Dr.Shyam Kumar Ph.D, IIT Kanpur

• Shyam Kumar has been involved with activities related to Jeevan Vidya (Madhyasth Darshan) since 2004. Afterwards, he studied Indian and western philosophies in detail.

•  

• Jeevan Vidya focuses on understanding all aspects of the human reality and living on that basis, i.e. developing the understanding through a process of self-exploration while making effort for prosperity by way of production of necessary physical facility through labour, using cyclic-mutually enriching (avartansheel) process.

• Shyam has dedicated his life to this – he feels that “the problems in the world that can be solved by chemical engineering are quite limited, narrow. The problem of inhuman conduct is much more serious and I am committed to make effort for human conduct by participating in the activities of education-reforms. All the problems that we see in the family, society and nature today are mere reflections of the inappropriate human mindset. Unless we make effort to change the mindset of people, we cannot solve the problems of pollution, resource depletion, deforestation, corruption, domestic violence, racism, communal hatred & violences.”

• These days, he regularly conducts workshop of Jeevan Vidya, Geeta and Vedanta for various sections of the society. Further, he has been a part of the team that is engaged in developing the value based educational content (syllabus, books, teachers’ training module etc) for schools and universities. Along with it, he has conducted more than 10 workshops of Universal Human Values- a course offered by more than 40 universities; for the teachers and students of Royal University of Bhutan, IIT Kanpur, IIT Patna and Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar.
